Melanesiatimes.com – President Joko Widodo attended the Istigasah and Prayer Together Rabithah Melayu-Banjar event held at the Tabalong Shining Hall Complex, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan Province, on Friday, March 17, 2023. In his speech, the Head of State appreciated the enthusiasm and spirit of the Malay-Banjar community who uphold religious values and eastern traditions.
“I also appreciate the spirit of Rabithah Melayu-Banjar who participates in maintaining and preserving the noble values of Malay-Banjar customs and culture and also develops Islamic values that rahmatan lil alamin,” said the President.
The President said that Indonesia is a great country and nation. Indonesia has 280 million people living on 17 thousand islands with various tribes, customs, races, and religions.
“Diversity is bound by the spirit of singleness, bound by national consensus, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Republic of Indonesia and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” said the President.
Therefore, the President invited the Malay-Banjar community to jointly increase the spirit of ukhuwah, both ukhuwah islamiyah, ukhuwah wathoniyah, and ukhuwah insaniyah. According to the President, the spirit of ukhuwah can make people live in harmony even in the midst of differences.
“The spirit of ukhuwah is what makes us all able to live in harmony, different religions but get along, different customs but get along, different tribes but get along, because indeed we were created by different God,” said the President.
“We can live side by side, live harmoniously, and together fight with the spirit of mutual assistance to advance this country,” he said.
